Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF)

The Swiss Paraplegic Research (SPF) is the host and driving force behind the ICF Research Branch activities.

Part of the Swiss Paraplegic Group, the SPF is a research institute located in the Guido A. Zäch Institute (GZI) in Nottwil, Switzerland on the banks of beautiful Lake Sempach 20 minutes from the city of Luzern.

SPF strengthens Switzerland's positioning as a research magnet - it has officially been recognized as a non-university research institution by the Swiss Federal government and the cantons and is affiliated with the University of Luzern in the Department for Health Sciences and Medicine.

Moreover, SPF has been an international leader of comprehensive rehabilitation research and aligned with the biopsychosocial framework of the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF). It is one of the few institutions worldwide that unites top scientists from different disciplines conducting rehabilitation research from a comprehensive perspective - all under one roof.
